There it is in dollars and cents -- what my taxes are this year, and what they'd be if the Bush tax cuts lapse. I'd be paying $2000 plus more a year!!

Here's the link.

If you put in for 2000 which was the year before the cuts came in, you can compare.

I guess I can look forward to my taxes skyrocketing if Obama gets in.

Steyn for the win -- as usual!

....Alas, as a result of this massive investment of journalistic resouces, no investigative reporter will be free to investigate ACORN voter-registration fraud or Obama’s ties to terrorist educator William Ayers until, oh, midway through his second term at least.

Under the headline “Is ‘Joe The Plumber’ A Plumber? That’s Debatable”, John Seewer of the Associated Press triumphantly revealed that Joe is not a “licensed” plumber. In fact, he doesn’t need to be licensed for the residential plumbing he does, but isn’t that just typical of Bush-McCain insane out-of-control deregulation? It wouldn’t surprise me to discover that most of these subprime homeowners got Joe in to plumb their subprime bathrooms. Next thing you know, the entire global economy goes down the toilet. Coincidence?

Joe is now the most notorious plumber in American politics since the Watergate plumbers. And they weren’t licensed, either. It turns out Joe doesn’t even make 250 grand, and it’s only the 250-thousand-a-year types who’ll be paying more (please, no tittering) under Good King Barack. Joe Biden — that’s Joe the Bluecollar Senator — said that he didn’t know any 250,000-dollars plumbers in his neighborhood, or even in the first-class club car on Amtrak he rides every night to demonstrate his bluecollar bonafides. On Good Morning America, Diane Sawyer emphasized this point, anxious to give the apostate plumber one last chance to go with the flow:

Do I need to be vetted too?

I am taken aback by this Joe the Plumber guy. Well, not him exactly. Poor guy had no idea he was going to be the Next American Celebrity, he just asked the guy who wants to be President a question.

Now people are digging into his life and reporters seem to be talking to him 24/7. The question has been raised about how well the McCain campaign vetted the man before he mentioned him in the debate.

Joe is just a guy on a rope line. Obama let him ask the question. If Obama is not pleased with how his answer to the question played out, how is that Joe's fault? Why does it matter if "Joe," as it's now being written, goes by his middle name? Lots of people go by their middle names. No, his life isn't perfect. He's not making what they say he said he's making. That's because he didn't say that's what he was making, he said he was looking at buying a business that made that.

But none of that matters because it's not in line with the way Obama wants to be seen. Not because of the question Joe asked but because of the answer Obama gave.

So essentially Obama, his staff, the media who can't get off these stories about Joe, and the lefty supporters who keep talking about everything that is wrong with Joe, are essentially telling us all that we are not worthy to talk to the people who want to be elected. Or maybe we are but they get to look at all our financial records and the list of websites we've looked at first.

But the big scoop is: Joe asked a really good question. And, in my humble opinion, Obama gave him an honest answer. That's the important bit.

Here's hoping Joe survives the election. He may be the best thing that's happened to it.

The Nightmare We Won't Get to Wakeup From

You have to pinch yourself – a Marxisant radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. And apparently it’s considered impolite to say so.

The whole thing here.

More 'Change' From Obama

Let's pray to God that this sort of change isn't what Obama will bring to our country.

About 50 parishioners were locked into the Assemblies of God church before it was set ablaze. They were mostly women and children. Those who tried to flee were hacked to death by machete-wielding members of a mob numbering 2,000.

The 2008 New Year Day atrocity in the Kenyan village Eldoret, about 185 miles northwest of Nairobi, had all the markings of the Rwanda genocide of a decade earlier.

The violence was led by supporters of Raila Odinga, the opposition leader who lost the Dec. 27, 2007, presidential election by more than 230,000 votes. Odinga supporters began the genocide hours after the final election results were announced Dec. 30.

Who is Odinga? Why he's Barack's guy!

Initially, Mr. Odinga was not the favored opposition candidate to stand in the 2007 election against President Mwai Kibaki, who was seeking his second term. However, he received a tremendous boost when Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Kenya in August 2006 to campaign on his behalf. Mr. Obama denies that supporting Mr. Odinga was the intention of his trip, but his actions and local media reports tell otherwise.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama were nearly inseparable throughout Mr. Obama's six-day stay. The two traveled together throughout Kenya and Mr. Obama spoke on behalf of Mr. Odinga at numerous rallies. In contrast, Mr. Obama had only criticism for Kibaki. He lashed out against the Kenyan government shortly after meeting with the president on Aug. 25. "The [Kenyan] people have to suffer over corruption perpetrated by government officials," Mr. Obama announced.

"Kenyans are now yearning for change," he declared. The intent of Mr. Obama's remarks and actions was transparent to Kenyans - he was firmly behind Mr. Odinga.

'Get In Their Face'

"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors," Barack Obama told a crowd in Elko, Nev. "I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face." Actually, Obama supporters are doing a lot more than getting into people's faces. They seem determined to shut people up.
