Guest Blogger

I'm still looking for a guest blogger for the month of November. All the details here. Still having comment problems, so email me if you would.

In related news, Bob the Tech Guy, who was a guest blogger here last year, is going to be the official A&C guest tech blogger. He'll be posting occasionally about all that's hot, fresh, and new in the tech world. I think he's going to be a great addition to the blog!

Somehow, He Manages

I don't know how he does it, but Kerry manages to exceed my lowest expectations. Way to go, dude!

Autumn Cooking

I am so sick of all the prepared foods we've been eating due to Nin's change in schedule, the upheaval with our truck being at the mechanic, and getting ready for vacation. I'm double sick of eating it after two weeks away and eating in restaurants. So, we went shopping late last night, and I'm going to try and get us back on track. I just put a loaf of pumpkin apple spice bread in the oven, then I'm making three meals worth of chicken parmigiana, macaroni and cheese, and pumpkin soup. One of each will stay out for this week's meals, the rest will go in the freezer in aluminum containers so Nin can just pop them in the oven before I get off work. The rest of the week will be what I have left in the freezer currently: baked potato soup, BBQ beef, and apple sausage (which will be cooked with potatoes and onions)

I'm hoping the spices form the bread and listening to Loreena McKennitt will put me in the mood to write tomorrow and the next day. I may not be able to finish my Halloween fic, but I'd love to get it mostly done.

It's a lovely Autumn day! October is always our nicest month -- fog free with actual sun!

Guest Blogger for a Month

Since I don't seem to blog as much as I used to, and I enjoy reading what my guest bloggers come up with while I'm away, I thought I might try an experiment. So, if you'd like to be a guest blogger for the month of October November!, then let me know. You don't have to have a blog already, and you don't have to agree with me on every issue, just try and keep to the tone of the blog, which is pretty much just no profanity. If you're interested, email me -- still having comment issues -- edithna AT yahoo DOT com, and tell me a bit about yourself (if I don't already 'know' you) and why you should be the one. If this works out, I may have another guest blogger in November December. We'll see how it goes.

But I just can't take the assualt of spam anymore. I've had to turn on the authenticated commenters only option. I'm not sure If I've ticked off the right sequence, so it may take some tweaking.

Thanks, and sorry it had to come to this.

A bit later: It's not working, so holding pattern for a bit...

Writer Beware

This has become a favourite blog over the last few months.

Want to know the innermost secrets of Writer Beware? Of course you do! Come and read about hunting down scam agents, and get information on writing and publishing from authors/scam hunters Victoria Strauss and A.C. Crispin. Got questions on how to avoid scams in the writing world? Ask the experts! Got questions on writing and publishing? Get the straight dope here.

They have another great post up on the perils of paying for representation and vanity publishing.

The MT people were morons for removing blacklist from their newest version. Whatever they use built in now to try and reduce spam sucks. I raise the aggressiveness of the spam filter, and it junks actual comments, I lower it, and it alls all sorts of crap through. It was just perfect before, and I rarely got spam. Gar! Now I feel like I'm back to the version from several years ago.

One, I'm never upgrading again. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Though in this case, it's just broke it seems.

Two, I think I will have to start using the 'trusted commenters' function so comments from all of you can actually get through, while hopefully allowing me to up the spam filter to junk everything else.

Let's See...

if I can get back into the habit of posting here at least a few times a week.

Just watching a few minutes of FNC this morning had me rolling my eyes. It always amazes me that the Dems think we're that stupid. No, I don't believe your crap this year anymore than I did last year.

Comments: I now have the ability to moderate comments so only trusted commenters get their comments published right away. Other comments are held in moderation. Thoughts on using this feature? Would those of you that do comment here regularly have any objection to having to log in when commenting? I suppose if you did, the comment you made would just be delayed anyway, right?

I have a bit of a con report up on my LJ, for those interested in that sort of fannish activity.

I am way behind on TV what with having no satellite for ten days and then going on vacation. I still haven't seen a single ep of Lost. Plus I now have the shows from the UK I'm watching like Holby City and Torchwood, so I'm knee deep in TV to watch.

I have caught up with BSG however, and it's been pretty good so far. The other show I'm really enjoying is Ugly Betty. And of course, my obsession with House and Grey's Anatomy is undiminished :)

Fave song right now is 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol, and I really want to get the new Evanescence CD.

How's that for a first post?

Just a quick post to let you know we're home safe. And while I was gone, Russ got comments working! Yay! I saw/read virtually no news while I was gone, so I suppose I need to catch up. Hopefully, I'll feel more like posting here now we're moving into election time.

Still Not King

Errr.. .. that would be 'still no comments' :)

Also, I'm at less then two days away from zero hour for canceling my vacation. Not a happy girl right now. But, in case I do get to go away, anyone who has guest blogged for me before is welcome to do so again. Actually, why not do it whether I go away or not? It'll be a virtual vacation if nothing else! I'll be 'gone' for two weeks starting Saturday.

In other unhappy inducing news, I'm on my sixth day with no TV. They put a new roof on our building last week and the roofers took down our dish. They put it back up Monday night WRONG! And I can't get anyone out till Friday to fix it. So I've missed a ton of new shows this week. Grr.

And that's about all that passes for blogging today.
