Gold Star day honors mothers of fallen soldiers

During WW II those who had husband or son in the war put up a blue star for each one if they were KIA they would replace it with a gold star well my granparents never put up a gold star becuase the father and three uncles survived including my father who was in the BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA
