Nightmare Scenario

Pandemics have always been both a fear and an interest of mine. Fear, obviously for the future, and interest in historical events like the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918. So, as you might expect, my antenna has been all a buzz lately with the threat of an Avian Flu Pandemic.

Here's a link to an article I read today: A Nightmare Scenario

Also this: The Next Pandemic which has a roundup of several articles.

I remember reading a few years back that the head of the CDC had a remote cabin for his family to go to in case of another pandemic. That news certainly didn't do much to make me think that maybe I just worry too much. Realistically, how do you prepare? Other than living on a mountain somewhere like Grizzly Adams?

(Anyone else ever see the Brit series, "Survivors"?)

Never seen 'The Survivors', though I have seen 'The Stand' (good movie).

I try not to worry very much about this kind of thing. If it happens, it happens, and there isn't much we can do to stop it. If it's so bad that the economy goes into the crapper, even if you aren't laid low by the bug, your life is going to be screwed up anyway.

As far as living on top of a mountain, that's been my dream since early childhood. Just so long as the UPS truck can get up to me, I'll be fine!

Thanks for the link to a very good article.

Often wondered if some of the regular flu season is seeded in order to track spread patterns and such. One of my very few conspiracy theorys.
