All About Me?

Do you guys think I should have one of those "about me" blurbs on the blog? And if so, I need help! I want something amusing, or at least partly amusing. You all are funny, so I'm depending on you!

Later: oh, and speaking of "me", I'm two spots from being a Playful Primate. Now there's no way I'm really at 102, so the Ecosystem must be wonky again, but seeing that number is nice -- no matter how temporary!

Do one of those "100 things about me" posts and just link that if you want... I'm not a huge fan of "sum up my life in 200 words or less" blurbs....

I added my journal to the links page. :-) Is the about me thing you're talking about the ones that go "name, nicknames, birthday"? If it is, I'm posting one in my journal (http://www.caleida.com/users/silenttestimony/). Feel free to copy it is you'd like. By the way, I really like the layout of your blog. I like the picture on the top. Its really awesome. Inspiring, kinda.

CTG, anything but the 100 things list!! I'd have trouble making ten.

Jocelyn, yeah sort of a little bio, but something with some humour so it doesn't read like a rap sheet! Glad you like the art. I love the artist, and it was hard to choose!

I once tried to make an "about me" section and found I just could NOT be totally honest... kept twiddling the facts to make myself look better. Then I thought the best way to avoid that would be to solicit all of my friends and relatives to give me one short paragraph about myself.
I was too scared of what they might say, mainly that the phrase "crazed psycho" would come up way too often and so I never followed through, but this doesn't mean it might work out better for you. :)

LeeAnn!! Long time, no hear :) I'm not sure I want to know what they'd say about me either.

Yeah, 111 things would be cool. And you'd be surprised how easy it is to come up with them if you can get yourself started. Perusing the 100 lists others do helps, and you can do a combo of ruminating by category and daisychaining thoughts. For instance, saying "I'm allergic to shrimp" might get your mind on seafood and fish, and lead to saying "I've never gone fishing; it sounds boring," and that might lead to "besides, I'd hate to turture and murder those poor worms, because they are just too cute and besides they're good for my soil," and that might lead to "I love to grow fresh vegetables in large pots on my porch, especially those little tomatoes that go so well with salads and brie," and that might lead to "brie is my favorite cheese, which I use a lot when cooking," and so forth.

I need to redo my list eventually.

I think you should have an "About Me" post. I did one and it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. I just started describing myself and my hobbies. The rest fell into place.

Hm...well, if you're feeling a little iffy about us writing paragraphs about you, and need some ideas on how to get started, how about letting us pepper you with quirky questions? I'll start. :-) The theme is "You end up on a deserted island..."

1. What cheese could you not live without?

2. Would you prefer the island be covered with trees or with waterfall-abundant mountains?

3. Would you rather have a temperamental fire-breathing dragon, or a placid blue whale for your pet?

4. Aside from Nin and family, whom would you send messages in bottles?

5. What beverage would you have consumed from those now-empty bottles?

6. How did you end up on this island, any way?

7. You find an abundance of coconut shells...what would you do with them?

8. You find treasure, but it's not gold. What is it?

9. On this island, is it more of a relief not to have car trouble, anymore, or not to have to answer stupid questions at work?

10. Amazingly enough, you find the man of your dreams on this island. What does he look like? How do you meet? Tell us all the details, sister! :D

So, that's my silly contribution. Have fun! ;)

I think you should. I always read them. I think it makes the blog more human... if that makes sense. I like to have a better feel for who I'm reading.

There are folks who do that 100 things. That's cool, but I've been unable to do it as mine gets boring.

There is also one that people do that's a peel an onion type, layer by layer, but it's too invasive for me.

I'd say, open a word doc and just write funny stuff. There's no rush. When you think its informative and witty, the way you want it, post it. That's my thought.

Bo, when I signed up for one of those online dating things, my friends wrote the 'about me' section. I had no idea what to say.

I think there are certain things people like to know. It's a touchy feely thing. What are your interests, who influenced you, favorite movies, books, type of music you love. If people read your blog, they know all this, but the About Me summarizes it for those who are new.

You may want to take a look at that onion thing just for some quick ideas. I think you shouldn't limit yourself to thinking it's a one shot deal, either. It can be more of a living document.

OR!!!, you could have your friends and/or loyal readers write it. They could submit things to you and you could pull it together. Just a thought.
