Young 007

ORLANDO BLOOM's dream of becoming the next JAMES BOND looks set to become reality - but he'll be playing the young 007.

The PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN actor has confirmed he has been in negotiations to star in YOUNG 007.

He says, "I love the idea, in principle, as he can be far more adventurous and do more stunts. This is as near as I think I will get to playing the grown up James for the next 20 years."

The first Young 007 movie will be based on new novel SILVERFIN and will be set in the 1930s, years before Bond discovered he likes his Martinis shaken, not stirred.

The film will follow the young Bond from school at Eton, England, to his uncle's house in the west Highlands.

Meanwhile, Aussie actor JULIAN McMAHON and Brits CLIVE OWEN and GERARD BUTLER remain the current favourites to take over from PIERCE BROSNAN as the grown-up Bond.

Where you git this, Ith?--The boyfriend is very upset. Huge James Bond fan, less fond of Orlando. Very natural guy reaction, really.

Me, I'm with Kathy--he's just a pup. Cute enough, but . . . so. Not. 007.

Crud, I forgot the link, didn't I? It's a UK entertainment type website. I'll see if I can find it again.

I have no problems with Orly in the role. After all, it is specifically "young" 007. And Orly has that whole young Errol Flynn thing going for him (near the end of PotC he really has it down), which I think will lend itself to a 1930s era character. Plus, he'll be a few years older. and I keep thinking of his tux pic in his 2005 calendar -- very nice! I'm looking forward to it :) As I get older, I'm finding younger men somewhat more attractive than I used to!

I've never been a big fan of Bloom, either. Too...sugary. Yuck.

Oh, and I SO hope they make Gerard Butler the new Bond. The man is like a fantastic piece of chocolate cake (I'm craving chocolate cake right now, hence the metaphor). Clive Owen has too sharp features and Julian McMahon is creepy.
