I'll be the first to admit I love Whole Foods, or as we call it around here (and according to the article, we're not the only ones!) Whole Paycheck. Their cheese section alone can keep me ecstatic for hours. I can't afford to do my "regular shopping" there, but for special stuff, it's the place! Well, they've upped the ante. They just opened something new, and I can't wait to see one! "Disneyworld for Food" indeed! You'll probably have to send a search party in for me -- I'll be with the cheese.

I love Whole Foods. It's been a decent substitute for the true holy foods: Trader Joe's
Posted by: caltechgirl at March 9, 2005 3:48 PMI've never been to Trader Joe's. There's one in Pacific Grove, but it has teeensy parking lot and it's always jammed.
Posted by: Ith at March 9, 2005 3:58 PMTrader Joe's... great place for self-indulgence.
Pity I rarely go in for self-indulgence.
(I said "rarely," not "never." ;-)
Posted by: Russ at March 9, 2005 4:28 PMOooooh, I love Trader Joe's. There are actually a few around here, but at enough of a distance that we haven't been to one. We also just discovered where the closest Whole Foods is, and it's not terribly far. It's getting to be time to make a trip...
Posted by: Deb at March 9, 2005 4:53 PMI bought herb havarti at Whole Foods, and it's a great topping for garlic bread...mmmm...
Posted by: Princess Jami at March 10, 2005 2:43 PMAh, Whole Foods. The first time it opened here it was called Fresh Fields. The jalapeno cheese bread had me addicted for years. I get all my "specialty" items there--like calendula gel and arnica oil; I discovered the "just tomatoes"* brand dried foods, and I'm happily addicted to their pineapple and love the blackberries. However, a couple of years ago I discovered that their fresh-cut pineapple chunks are to die for; a friend just back from Hawaii told me that it was pretty darn close to the truly good stuff you can get on the islands.
*check out their website--www.justtomatoes.com--it's all heavenly, and amazingly low-priced.

Mmmmmmm...cheeeeeeeeese! Enjoy! I'm so jealous. Not much here in Guam when it comes to "special" food.
