I finally decided to cure my craving for a patty melt, so we went to Denny's. And then, tragedy struck: they don't serve them anymore!!!!! That's anti-American!! GEEZ! I settled for chicken fried steak.
The quest continues.

I haven't been to one since I got food poisoning from one a few years back, but the craving called! And it was within walking distance :) and their chicken fried steak isn't very good anymore. There was a dollop of gravy on them, about the size of a silver dollar. What's with that?!?!
My kingdom for a Cracker Barrel [sniff]

I'll tell Mom we need to go eat there in your honor.
::snerk::
May I recommend the Awful House, beloved last stop of late night drunks everywhere? According to their online menu at http://www.wafflehouse.com/whmenu.pdf, they still serve patty melts.
Posted by: Jenna at January 28, 2005 6:51 AMHun, you could indeed. They actually make first class patty melts! However, there is no such creature in this part of the world :) No Waffle House, no Cracker Barrel. Life is hard.
Posted by: Ith at January 28, 2005 8:09 AMSad, but OTOH, I'm sure there are better patty melts around then you could've ever had at Denny's.
Posted by: Dave J at January 28, 2005 8:09 AMTrue, but Denny's was pretty much it in my options.
Posted by: Ith at January 28, 2005 8:16 AMI don't know what I would do if I couldn't get to a Cracker Barrel from time to time.
Posted by: Tina at January 28, 2005 8:36 AMTina, when we travle out of CA we plan our trips around Cracker Barrels :) The closest one to us is Kingman AZ or Boise ID.
Posted by: Ith at January 28, 2005 8:42 AMAs I recall there is a Coco's in P.G. that serves pretty good paty melts!
Posted by: Ron B. at January 28, 2005 9:13 AMThere's a Coco's on P.G.? Where? Dang! I actually don't mind Coco's, but I had no idea there was one in the area.
Posted by: Ith at January 28, 2005 9:15 AMNext on my list is Margie's Diner and Big Bear Diner. Denny's was chosen becuase it was cheapest, and we could walk from the apartment -- saving gas.
Posted by: Ith at January 28, 2005 9:16 AMI used to go to Friendly's for patty melts all the time with my friend Jennie. I lived in Greenfield and Deerfield, and she lived in Windsor, CT near the airport that serves Hartford and Springfield, maybe 50 miles away. She had worked at Friendly's in her teens, so it had a special place, beside being reasonable, yummy, and having possibly the best restaurant coffee I have ever had anywhere.
Posted by: Jay at January 28, 2005 10:08 AMOMG I love Margie's!! I'll trade you Cracker Barrel for Margie's any day. I need a chili omelet and a coffee shake badly......
I miss Coco's too. Damn you people. :)
Posted by: caltechgirl at January 28, 2005 10:44 AMI'll trade you Cracker Barrel for Margie's any day.
Done! Margie's, to me, is only a slighlty better Denny's.
Posted by: Ith at January 28, 2005 10:48 AMNo Waffle House? No Cracker Barrel?Tragedy is right!
Posted by: Jenna at January 28, 2005 11:05 AMGreat, you've mentioned Denny's, now I have to go find some Holy Water, and possibly some garlic as well...

You're Kidding!!!! Damn.
Dennys has really gone downhill. Of course, we don't have one out here in the hinterlands.....
