The "Fringe"

Aren't we always being told that the Nazi/Hitler stuff comes from the far left fringe of the Dem party?

Former senator John Glenn (D-Ohio) took the defense a step further by comparing the Republicans' misleading statements to those of Nazi Germany. "You've just got to separate out fact from fiction. . . . Too often, too often, in this country, if you hear something repeated, it's the old Hitler business -- if you hear something repeated, repeated, repeated, repeated, you start to believe it," he said.

It's looking to me like the whole damn party is "the fringe".

And I used to respect John Glenn.

Repeated, repeated, repeated, eh?

Okay, try repeating, repeating, repeating this:

"Bush lied!"

Posted by: CrankyBeach at September 4, 2004 6:47 PM

And what did Bush lie about? Was it the same thing that Kerry, Clinton, and Al Gore lied about?

Posted by: Norman at September 4, 2004 7:04 PM

Oh, but you see, Kerry, Clinton and Algore didn't send kids off to die for their lie! So that makes Bush the devil, you see. Or something like that.

CB, indeed!

Funny how they frequently (very frequently) project and say "Bush=Hitler" but never "Bush=Stalin" or "Bush=Mao" - are they that deluded? It was Goebbels who said, "Repeat a lie often enough, and it becomes the "truth" so maybe they're the ones hoping that projection works out for them... Good article on how Leftist embrace fascism here:

Don't wanna bust yer bubble, but John Glenn is an older and craftier version of John Kerry. Yeah, there's substance to his accomplishment, but in the end, he's always been about John Glenn and his personal ambition. Per example, the way he treated his wife as he was chasing the glory of space flight.

Not that his replacement is much better. (Read: any better.) Ohio seems to be poorly served by her Senators -- from both parties. And for a long time back, too. I mean, Robert Taft (Sr.) was no prize.

Not that Glenn is unique in that regard. Most politicians on the national stage are like that, which is why we're so poorly served by them -- and why we shouldn't trust them with so much power.

Kerry=Neville Chamberlain. Now that's a real comparison. Kerry wants a more "sensitive" war on terror. If only we had gone to the French first. If only the UN wasn't mad at us. If only Bush had been sweeter to the terrorists maybe they wouldn't have killed so many of us. If only the Russians had been nicer maybe all those children wouldn't be dead.

Are these guys for real? What universe do they live in? I think Glenn has spent too much time in outer space.

Comparing Kerry to Chamberlain is, however, unfair to Chamberlain, who at least realized in retrospect that appeasing Hitler had been a huge mistake, and who didn't have a glaring previous historical example of the failure of appeasement to look back on.
