Idiots in Sacramento

There's a new state amendment being proposed in the state of California.

It's to give teenagers the right to vote. Yeah, 14-17 year olds can vote.

Oh, wait... It gets better!

They don't get a full vote...

Oh no.

14-15 year olds are counted as a fourth vote.

16-17 year olds are counted as a half vote.

As if people aren't confused by the election process already!

Why, you ask?

"We believe it's time to open up the franchise to young Californians at the age of 14, let them register and vote and be seriously included in the process," said Democratic State Senator John Vasconcellos.

Of course it would have nothing to do with the fact that the majority of teenagers lean toward the Democratic party.

Or the fact that if they do this, they'll be getting votes from all the children of Hispanic immigrants (legal or not) in the state.

Oh no, nothing to do with those points at all.

[/sarcasm]

I actually heard about this on Friday, but I've been stewing about it off and on since...

This is mind-bogglingly stupid, even for California. Fortunately, the sponsor is someone even most of the leftwing nutjobs in the state legislature regard as a total joke.
