So Tell Me...

Where in the heck do you come from? I average 130ish visitors here a day, and of those maybe a dozen comment regularly. So I've been wondering a couple of things: how did you find me, and where do you hail from -- either virtually or physically. How many of you have blogs?

It's Friday, and I'm curious! So if you've never left a comment before, take pity on my curiosity and tell me a bit about yourself. And if you do comment here, I'd still like to know a bit about you, so you're not off the hook!

Remember; curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back!

Wow, I get to be first...I *think* I ran across you via MBL.

Posted by: Rick Rock at September 26, 2003 10:57 AM

Virtually: I come from my blog, 'What's Brewing', where I've got a link to you. I found you through my sitemeter one day. :)

Physically: I hail from Massachusetts, but I'm originally from Southern California.

Posted by: Jen at September 26, 2003 11:03 AM

Hey, Jen! Glad to see you over here since Dragon's Muse is pretty much defunct now. BTW, Jen has a great blog that you should all go read. I'll always be eternally grateful for her introducing me to Upton tea :)

Rick, I know I'm going to smack my head when you tell me, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what MBL is!

Eeeevil lawyer, originally from Boston, currently in (hopefully temporary) exile in Tallahassee. I think I found you through one of your comments on Andrea Harris's blog.

Posted by: Dave J at September 26, 2003 12:33 PM

Well let's see...
I found your blog ages ago on Right We Are.
I'm originally from Bluefield, West Virginia.
I've been a resident of Savannah, Georgia for almost eight years.

I think that's it :)

Posted by: Gennie at September 26, 2003 12:37 PM

No! Don't wanna! Can't make me! :PPPP

Posted by: eviltammy at September 26, 2003 12:48 PM

Everything in the intersection of the two sets:
-- what you might want to know about me,
-- what I don't mind you knowing about me,
...can be found here.

I found you through a cross-link in another blog; I can no longer remember which one. But I kept coming back, obviously. You run a good site.

Posted by: Francis W. Porretto at September 26, 2003 12:53 PM

I love it when people cooperate! :) Love reading all your answers, and Tam :P

Posted by: Ith at September 26, 2003 12:58 PM

I came across your blog via link from Rachel Lucas blog. You cannot just pass up someting that contains Absinthe together with cookies.
I live in the Netherlands but am not dutch and share quite a few interests with you although I lean heavily towards SF rather than fantasy.

Yes I do love pirate movies but could not bring myself to see POTC as I used to work for BVI film distribution and got fed up with Jerry Bruckheimer crap right after Armageddon although I did enjoy that one quite a bit.

You can find my list of "Best film books in my library" on Amazon website.

I have pretty much conservative political views but hailing from Europe rather than the US they do tend to express in a different way, and oh yes I collect handguns.

There will be 4 in my collection in a few weeks...

I forget. You were linked somewhere, and once I got here it became an increasingly regular stop. You were one of the earlier ones for me.

Posted by: Jay Solo at September 26, 2003 2:17 PM

I found you through your leaving a comment on my old BlogSpot blog when I first started out. I imagine you found me through the Instalanche that I got for that post.

As to my physical location, if the name doesn't give it away, I'm in Raleigh, NC.

PS. Since you first commented on my blog about a post about my son and the Army, take a look at the top post currently on my blog, since it relates to the same subject.

Posted by: tobacco road fogey at September 26, 2003 2:55 PM

Jen SAYS she's from SoCal, but I think she's born and bred in Mass.

Posted by: Geoffrey at September 26, 2003 3:01 PM

Well...you made me...kind of, Mom. (waiting to hear about the influx of email you'll get asking when you had a kid) I found out about you from an MSNBC link to some page about war blogs during the...ah...war.

I'm from Michigan, I have a blog, I have a wife, I have a cat, I have a job.

Posted by: Mood Vertigo at September 26, 2003 3:21 PM

Kshatriya, thanks for commenting and I hope to hear from you in the future. I'm actually more of an SF fan. Tolkien is my one big exception. Back in the day, I was one of the few girls around my neck of fandom that read hard SF.

I only saw Armageddon once on TV, I'm afraid :)

TRF, I will!

Geoffry, what makes you say that? Do you think there is a "MA personality"? I'm curious (again!) because one of the friends I spent vacation with is from Boston, and we talked a lot about East Coast/West Coast differences.

Yes, MV is my blogchild! My only other child substitute is Nin :)

Jay, umm.... no idea!

Posted by: Ith at September 26, 2003 3:37 PM

I am SO not from MA. Please. When I speak, my R's stay where they're meant to, thankyouverymuch. :P

Geoffrey, don't make me track you down and whup your skinny little kilted butt. Heh.

Posted by: Jen at September 26, 2003 4:37 PM

I think I found you either through a comment you posted to my site, or a link to you from Rachel. Memory fuzzy, and it is not THAT far into Friday night yet. Get to feeling better!

Posted by: Laughing Wolf at September 26, 2003 6:15 PM

I linked to you through Paul over at Agit Prop when he was admiring your new design (and he's right--it is beautiful and a one-of.)

I grew up in Berkeley, didn't attend Cal but went two years to SF State, finished in Georgia, then moved up to Toronto (married a Canadian.)

I love LoTR obsessively, and try to hide the fact that I'm a bit of a Tolkien purist.

Posted by: Debbye at September 26, 2003 7:15 PM

I think you might have found me first, and I found the site via a comment on my blog.

After that, it was love at first site.. what can I say.

Posted by: Cam at September 26, 2003 7:28 PM

LW, I think I found you and gave you the vaunted Silver Snickerdoodle :)

Debbye, I'm from Berkeley too! and a bit[cough] of a Tolkien fiend.

Cam, awwww [sniff]

Posted by: Ith at September 26, 2003 9:15 PM

Oh, forgot a bit! Debbye, thanks for the compliment :)

Posted by: Ith at September 26, 2003 9:16 PM

Since you asked, ... hmm... I really don't remember how I found you. Most likely it was from noticing you on the blogrolls of several sites I read regularly.

Once I started coming here, I found this a very comfortable place to visit. Now I come here almost daily, sometimes several times a day.

Oh, I come here from down on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX. There's an "about" page on my site, if you're really interested in any more of the gruesome details.

Posted by: Roscoe at September 26, 2003 10:13 PM

Hope the Chinese food and movies helped you feel better. I am from Sacramento, and one of the new members of the BLF. I'm new to the whole blogging world, but am hooked...

Posted by: Miller's Time at September 26, 2003 11:37 PM

Roscoe, that's nice to hear :) I spent a few hours in San Antonio a few years back and loved it! The Riverwalk was awesome, and it's on my list of places I'd like to visit again.

Miller, it is addicitng!

(Ended up having Mexican).

Posted by: Ith at September 26, 2003 11:44 PM

I believe I saw you mentioned and linked a lot at Jay Solo's place. After a while curiosity got me and I clicked over - to discover a good blog that I had been missing out on!

I'm in Virginia (the DC area), and despite a military brat childhood I am a true Virginian (born in Charlottesville). You *can* go home again.

And you live in one of the places that I list as a favorite - the Monterey Peninsula. Paradise!

Posted by: jen at September 27, 2003 3:42 AM

I found you by an old reference for Ecolea, concerned that yet another fannish author might have taken their life.

Once I get it running, I will have a blog too. ;)

Wisconsinite.

Highlander fandom, some Stargate, others

Posted by: Winterhart at September 27, 2003 10:53 AM

I found you via the Alliance. :)

Posted by: hln at September 27, 2003 5:33 PM

I don't remember for sure how I first found you, but I'm pretty sure it was Jay's recommendation that kept sending me back, until I finally got smart enough to put you on my blogroll... :)

And I'm in Fresno. Lucky me, doncha think? *laughing*

Posted by: Deb at September 27, 2003 8:26 PM

I found you using a link on Rachel Lucas's wonderful site. And have enjoyed your since.

I am a native North Carolinian living in Montara, CA (south of Pacifica)and ine of the rare conservatives in this place.

Posted by: Patterico at September 28, 2003 1:07 PM

Deb, maybe we need to have a NorCal blog get together some time.

Posted by: Ith at September 28, 2003 1:25 PM

Ith, I think that's a fabulous idea! :)

Posted by: Deb at September 28, 2003 2:34 PM

I found you by checking out the "Alliance" website....I am writing this to you from the Great State of Tennessee....the hillbilly side of the state, of course..

Posted by: Eric at September 28, 2003 3:31 PM

Checking in from Phoenix, AZ here. I believe I found you through Blackfive...but I could be wrong. It's been a while. Probably it was through Ms. Lucas? I dunno...

Posted by: Kresh at September 28, 2003 5:27 PM

Ith, I do think you are right. :) And thanks again for the award!

Posted by: Laughing Wolf at September 29, 2003 5:39 AM

Ith, "MBL" was the blog "Married But Lonely"...he either linked to you, or you commented there, or someone else did, and they linked to you. Anyway, glad to have happened upon all this, and now have you saved under "Fun and Games" on my Favorites.

Posted by: Rick Rock at September 29, 2003 10:13 AM

I don't remember how I came upon your site, probably just surfing the list at TTLB. I'm from Cleveland.
