Via Instapundit comes this article. It made me want to smack my head repeatedly into a hard surface, so be warned!
I'll give you fricking bright!

It's so bizarre that you might think it's some sort of spoof. But I've leanred the hard way that things I think must be a joke are dead serious.
Posted by: Ith at June 25, 2003 8:42 AMYou're probably right. I thought it was just silly, amusing, and not worth getting riled about. Then again, I never heard of the author and was unaware of his proclivities, as others apparently are.
Bob was really alarmed about it, ranting to me on AIM, which is what made me go read it.
Posted by: Jay Solo at June 25, 2003 2:56 PMSo was that comment on Dean's blog directed at me? Cus just for the record, I wasn't offended. Exasperated, yes. Offended, no. You'll know when I get offended over something.
Posted by: Ith at June 25, 2003 3:07 PM"Offended" I was thinking more of Bob, and should probably not have used "they," or "offended," but I dashed off the comment in a hurry and am guilty of putting limited thought into the wording. My bad.
Posted by: Jay Solo at June 25, 2003 4:49 PMHis choice of the word bright suggests an innate
superiority over those who believe in a deity.
Also, I once heard a science fiction story in
which extremely intelligent children of the
future called brights. I strongly suspect they
ripped it off. I really hope the use of that
term does not catch on, but if it does, I
suspect most will see it for the self serving,
innacurate term that it is.

*Sigh* Ok, that is it. If this kind of doublespeak idiocy starts seeping it's way into our schools. I will raise my kids in a private school, free from super silliness like that. I need some asprin after reading that.
